New Research Confirms Brochures are a Top Influence in Leisure Trip Planning

A new study released by the University of Vermont's Tourism Research Center confirms brochures are among the top 3 influences in leisure trip planning.  Following word of mouth (friends & family), print media (brochures) were  found to have a significant influence on both first-time and repeat visitors.  

The Vermont tourism and recreation study collected 8,555 questionnaires over a two year period.  The survey found print media as an important influential factor when planning trips to Vermont.  Below figure breaks down the influence on travel decisions by age. In both age segments (Under Age 50 & Over Age 50), brochures were found to be the most influential form of print media.
